The Lobster Trap Application Information

The Lobster Trap – Call for Expressions of interest from artist-led groups and curatorial collectives based in South West UK to take over the OSR Project Space.

OSR Projects are looking for an artist-led group/curatorial collective, with a connection to the South West region, to produce an exhibition and series of events to take place at the OSR Project Space in September 2013.

Overview

OSR Projects is a transitional artists group that creates a platform for engagement with the world through artist–led activity. OSR Projects activities can be seen as an evolving curatorial project with collaboration, connectivity and criticality at its heart.

OSR Project Space, located in rural Somerset, is a place for incubation, exhibition and engagement providing a home for creative exploration and critical discourse through contemporary art. Established in 2011 by artist Simon Lee Dicker & graphic designer Chantelle Henocq the aim of OSR Project Space is to enrich the local cultural landscape, engage new audiences and provide opportunities for creative practitioners.

Project Brief

Extolling the creative energy of the current artist-led activity in the South West we are looking to provide an opportunity for creative practitioners to produce an ambitious exhibition/event that advances their work and connects with new audiences.

The main activity will take place at the OSR Project Space in the rural village of West Coker, during Somerset Art Weeks, with additional events and interventions to take place in the public realm and hosted with other partner venues where appropriate.

Collaboration, connectivity and criticality are at the heart of OSR Projects creative activity and we would encourage applicants to consider the social, political and geographic context of the project space and its broader cultural significance with in their expression of interest.

This project is funded through the Arts Council England and Corporate Sponsors.
